View Larger Map What the Ranch is not! Songdog Ranch is not a dude ranch, nor some ritzy get away for the rich and famous. It is a secluded rustic get away campground for the 'real' and adventurous. There are no cattle grazing in the pastures, nor fields of fruit sprawling along our fence line. The only things ever raised on this ranch are small herds of wine glasses in the light of campfires. While enjoying our warm and colorful evenings you would have been able to hear the songs of the coyotes echoing around the canyon.
Sondog Ranch is located in a small Central California valley by the name of Cuyama. The valley is only half a days journey from either the Los Angeles basin or the San Francisco bay area, yet, it is far enough from everywhere that it is often referred to as nowhere. A days cruise from The Songdog will take you to the beaches of Pismo Beach, the wineries of Paso Robles, the shops of Santa Barbara, the hiking trails of Los Padres National Forest (Home to the rock paintings of the Chumash Indians ), or the wind generators of Tehachapi .. The ranch dang near resides in four counties; Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern. Not bad for 160 acres! (hint: two of these counties have a single common corner connected by a common county line of the other two)
